This weekend I had a chance to meet yet another amazing woman who I have corresponded with for years — but never met IRL. (For the longest time, when I read that abbreviation I thought, “Why are so many people meeting in Ireland?”) Tina from Santa Monica and I have corresponded for years; she and her daughter Emily donated generously to the many Mozambique and Bolivian public health trips. Thanks to comments and email, we created a sweet friendship.

Tina

Tina and her husband were in town this weekend for a fancy film festival, and to visit Emily. (Who overnight is out of college and working in Denver. When Tina and I started corresponding, her daughter was in middle school.)

Most of the men in my life, and seemingly all the spouses of fellow bloggers, think this blog friends meeting in real life (not in Dublin) is insane. What if? What if the person on the other end of the blog is an ax murderer? Or worse — A REPUBLICAN! So far, so good. Over the years, I’ve had a chance to meet some pretty amazing, like minded ladies thanks to the interwebs. Spending a warm hour at a cafe patio with Tina was a delight.

Take what life hands you, make the most of it and fabulous, kind, generous people will regularly cross your path.
